Veritude Temporary Staffing Solution Expanded to CUMC Clinical Roles

Medical Center managers and administrators can now request clinical temporary staffing through Veritude, the University's managed services provider for temporary staffing. This expansion of services completes the rollout of the temporary staffing program to all departments at the Morningside campus and CUMC, which began in early 2005.

The program currently supports the following medical skills sets, in addition to clerical, financial and IT positions:

• Animal care worker
• Billing coder
• Billing compliance
• Research interviewer
• Medical transcription
• Nurse
• Phlebotomist
• Physician assistant
• Senior technician
• Statistical analysis
• Radiologic technologist
• Mammography technologist/Mammographer
• MRI technologist
• CT technologist
• Ultrasonographer/Ultrasound technologist
• Vascular technologist
• Laboratory technician
• Clinical laboratory technician with MLT certification
• Medical technologist with medical technology, histology or cytotech certification

Under the temporary staffing program, Veritude manages the numerous temporary staffing vendors used by Columbia, ensuring consistent service for all departments. The program reduces the administrative burden on managers, improves the quality of temporary staffing, consolidates systems for timekeeping, billing and reporting, and provides extensive medical surveillance and credentialing of temporary staff.

Since it kicked off in early 2005, the managed services program has placed approximately 350 temporary workers in a variety of departments, including close to 100 workers from the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone (UMEZ). The staffing program also includes Minority Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) suppliers.
