Increase on Paper Pricing Effective July 5, 2010

Recently an industry-wide increase in paper pricing was announced. Since hearing of this proposed increase, University Purchasing has been in the process of negotiating with Staples in order to mitigate this increase. Through these efforts, the approved Staples branded recycled photocopier paper pricing will be held firm until August 2011.

Additionally, Columbia will be moving to a minimum order value with Staples. This in our continuing sustainability efforts to reduce carbon footprint through fewer corrugated packing boxes as well as a reduction in fuel use for deliveries. This effort will also assist the University in managing product costs directly attributable to Staples operational effectiveness and allow Purchasing negotiating leverage as appropriate.

The new minimum order will be $35.00 and will take effect on August 9, 2010. This will be good for both the environment and Columbia and we would like to thank you in advance for your continued support.
