Purchasing Card (P-Card)

A P-Card is a credit card issued to authorized University personnel, for payment of non-travel related small dollar purchases (under $2,500 per transaction) of goods and services for use by the University. P-Cards can only be used by the individual named on the card. Columbia University is liable to the issuing bank for all valid transactions and pays the bank directly.

Benefits of the Program are as follows:

  1. Significantly reduces paperwork and processing time
  2. Allows authorized University personnel to obtain goods and services more quickly and easily
  3. Provides improved controls over accounting and purchasing
  4. Improves supplier relations due to faster payment
